• Mobile Reporting (MR) - client-server application |
|
| |
Mobile Reporting (MR) is a powerful information and decision-making tool for the mobile workforce. MR is a server-client application that allows remote access to enterprise business data and their analysis, structuring and display on a smartphone. The application targets mobile users in areas such as marketing, sales, and account and operations management that need real-time relevant data for information and decision making purposes.
MR performs a variety of queries and analyses of enterprise data such as periodical sales reports (e.g., volume, revenue, and profitability), sales analysis and performance tracking, inventory levels, order and fulfillment status, pricing updates, customer reports, etc.
MR may be interfaced via plug-ins to most of the current ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Charisma). The reports may be configured according to the customer needs and to match the characteristics of various smartphone displays running J2ME (MIDP 2.0 CLDC 1.0, Wireless Messaging API, such as NOKIA series 60). Data transmission from the enterprise server uses a combination of SMS and GPRS to minimize costs and increase flexibility and speed. Data are sent in push mode or on request by the user. Further add-ons, such as printing locally from the smartphone via Bluetooth, are planned. |

• Security Features
Mobile Reporting offers a high level of security through its various security features implemented on the Mobile Client and the Application Server as well as in the communication channels between Mobile Client, Application Server, and back-office system. These features include individual password, stored as a digest (md5) on the mobile client and verified by the application server through challenge-response authentication, activation key, obfuscation, data encryption using Triple DES Algorithm, encrypted connectivity using HTTPS, separation of the web server from the application server and different other configurable authentication mechanisms, using specific credentials, windows authentication and digital certificates, for securing the communication between the application server and the back-office system.

• Delivery Notifier
“Delivery Notifier” is the ultimate low-cost solution for real-time monitoring of delivery orders. “Delivery Notifier” is a client-server application that collects up-to-date delivery information from the field distribution force (e.g., agents, couriers, and drivers) to a back-office application or an ERP. At the beginning of the delivery route, the driver imports a daily route schedule to the cell phone or PDA. The driver will then check the status of each order to “delivered”, “partially delivered” or “undelivered” as soon as he has completed a delivery stop. The status change is sent via GPRS to the “Delivery Notifier” server. This way the status of the daily delivery orders is available in real time and can be accessed remotely by computer or mobile device.
The application, whose chief attributes are ease of use, flexibility and inexpensiveness, is based on Asento's Mobile Reporting platform.

• SMS Server
This application was developed as an integral part of Charisma Enterprise, allowing its users to send customized alerts via SMS (e.g., due date reminders for loan and leasing contract payments) to any GSM mobile device.
The communication between the SMS Server and the back-office system (which can be an ERP system such as SAP or Charisma Enterprise) is established through various interfaces, such as HTTP, SOAP Web Services and XML/RPC. Furthermore, the SMS Server communicates with an SMS carrier either through a GSM modem or over a secure internet connection to a global SMS Gateway .
The SMS Server runs as an NT service and can be easily installed and configured. Choosing either of the communication solutions above is done according to the needs of each client, after analyzing carefully the number of SMS messages that need to be sent per minute. For instance the GSM modem can send up to 20 SMS messages per minute while the SMS Gateway can deliver up to 300 SMS messages per minute. |

• Mobile Timesheet (MT)
Mobile Timesheet allows employees to enter their time anytime, anywhere, via mobile devices (e.g., mobile phone, PDA, etc.).
Employees first log in using the mobile devices they have available (generally mobile phones) to access a list of the projects they had been assigned to. The employees must enter the time expended per project per day. Once the employee's weekly timesheet has been completed, the employee's supervisor is notified via SMS. The supervisor is responsible for the timesheet review and approval. If the timesheet is rejected by the supervisor, the employee is notified via SMS. MT may be configured to send SMS notifications for any number of user actions.
As soon as a timesheet is approved, the timesheet data are allocated to the corresponding projects in the ERP system. Asento first implemented MT into the Primavera project portfolio management system.
